How to use it

Use the planner after you sketch the zones, not before.

Start by dividing the yard into practical zones such as the front walk, the entry, one tree group, or a side-yard path. Add the fixture types, use the actual wattage when you have it, and estimate the run distance honestly instead of optimistically.

The planner is not meant to replace the rest of the decision-making. It is meant to keep you from buying a transformer based on rough fixture counts alone. Once the zone totals are clearer, use the voltage-drop and wire-gauge tools to pressure-test the longer runs.

If the project is growing quickly or the longest run looks borderline, that is a sign to slow down and review the wiring plan before treating the transformer answer as final.
